Controls, Indicators, and Machines
Unlike a plain Shape (see Shapes and Styling), everything on this page carries its own state or live behavior. Each one is placed from its own Add menu category the same way: drag or click a tile onto the canvas.
Controls
Add > Control places interactive items. All of them are only interactive in Hand mode; in Mouse mode they behave like any other Shape (select, move, resize).
Switch
A simple on/off toggle with its own off/on colors. Click it in Hand mode to flip its state. A Switch is a valid Depends on source for any other Shape's Dynamic styling (see Dynamic Bindings and Notifications).
Slider
A draggable control across a customizable min/max range, with its current value shown while being dragged. Like a Switch, a Slider's own live value is a valid Depends on source elsewhere.
Pushbutton
A momentary button: clicking it in Hand mode turns it on, then it automatically reverts to off after a configurable delay (in seconds), with no further click needed. Useful for a "start"/"reset" action that shouldn't stay latched on.
Blinker
Cycles automatically between off and on, on a fixed timer (configurable on-duration and off-duration in seconds). It needs no interaction at all: it is purely a live indicator, useful for an "alarm active" style flashing light.
Math block
Combines any number of named operations into one Shape. Each operation takes two operands and combines them with +, -, ×, ÷, %, or a comparison (>, <, ≥, ≤). An operand can be:
- A same-canvas Switch or Slider
- A live OpSee Tag
- Another operation's own result (in this block or elsewhere on the canvas)
Every operation's own live result can, in turn, be used as a Depends on source anywhere else on the canvas, which makes a Math block the way to build a simple derived condition (for example, "running total exceeds 100") without needing a backend calculation.
Indicators
Add > Indicators currently has one built-in tile:
Gauge
An arc-style readout, always in Dynamic mode (there's no static look for a Gauge, since showing a live value is its whole purpose). Configurable: whether the live value shows at the arc's center, and whether the bound source's own min/max render as small captions beside it.
Machines
Add > Machines places physical process equipment.
Liquid tank
A vessel silhouette that fills from the bottom as its bound value rises, always in Dynamic mode. Optionally tag it with a Material from your Material catalog, purely as a label (it does not affect behavior). Bind it to a Slider or Tag the same way as any other Dynamic Shape.
Pipe
A routed connector between two points, drawn under the Machines > Pipes section. Drag its two ends to attach them to other Shapes (or to another Pipe); once attached, the Pipe's route follows automatically if the attached Shape later moves, resizes, or rotates. Configurable thickness, and a Show inside toggle that makes the pipe wall semi-transparent, revealing the liquid fraction inside once Dynamic mode is bound to a Slider or Tag.
Valve
Rides on an existing Pipe: it can only ever be dropped directly onto one, never placed freely on empty canvas, and its position moves along with the Pipe's own route. A Valve behaves like a Switch by default (click to open/close in Hand mode, with its own off/on colors) but can also be switched to Dynamic mode and bound to a live Tag instead, in which case clicking it no longer does anything: the Tag drives it. Either way, a Valve is itself a valid Depends on source for other Shapes, the same as a Switch.
Decorative connectors
Add > Connexions also has two purely decorative connector types, under Arrow and Dashed line: a thin line meant to visually connect or point between two Shapes, with no liquid, thickness, or binding of its own, unlike a real Pipe. Use a Pipe when the connection needs to represent real process flow; use these when it's just a visual annotation.
An Arrow's style menu has one extra option, Both ends: puts an arrowhead on both ends of the line instead of just the one it has by default.
Widgets
Add > Widget opens a picker listing every Cockpit dashboard widget: OEE KPIs and charts, Audit activity, Material stock levels, Production Orders, and live Tag trend charts. Placing one embeds that exact widget on the canvas, with its own settings (equipment, time range, refresh interval) editable from its own icon on the Shape. See Cockpit Widgets for what each individual widget shows; the HMI editor just lets you place any of them alongside your process diagram instead of on a separate dashboard.
