Fullscreen / Kiosk Mode

Cockpit dashboards are commonly displayed on large monitors or TVs in control rooms, near production lines, or on quality boards. This page explains how to set up a fullscreen display.

Browser fullscreen

The simplest approach: use your browser's built-in fullscreen.

  1. Navigate to the Cockpit page (/cockpit)
  2. Press F11 (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Ctrl+F (macOS) to enter fullscreen
  3. The browser chrome (address bar, tabs) disappears, leaving only the Cockpit content
  4. Press F11 again to exit

:::tip Turn off auto-refresh of the browser tab Some browser power-saving modes may throttle background tabs. Keep the Cockpit tab in the foreground, or disable power-saving in your browser settings for the OpSee URL. :::

For a dedicated display that runs continuously (control room monitor, production TV), use kiosk mode:

Google Chrome

google-chrome --kiosk --start-fullscreen https://your-opsee-url/cockpit

This launches Chrome in a true kiosk mode: no title bar, no address bar, no way for users to accidentally navigate away.

Configuring auto-start on boot

On Windows, add the Chrome kiosk command to the startup folder. On Linux, add it to your desktop session autostart file.

Which dashboard to display

Create a dedicated saved configuration for each display:

  1. Set up the Cockpit with the widgets for that specific display (e.g., Line 2 OEE gauges)
  2. Click Save Configuration and give it a descriptive name (e.g., "Line 2 Control Room")
  3. On the display device, load that saved configuration after opening the Cockpit
  4. Enter fullscreen

The Cockpit remembers the last loaded configuration per browser, so after initial setup the display will always show the correct dashboard on reload.

Auto-refresh

The Cockpit auto-refreshes widgets according to the configured interval (default: 30 seconds). No interaction is needed to keep the data current.

To set the refresh interval:

  1. Click the Settings icon in the toolbar
  2. Adjust the Refresh interval slider
  3. Click Apply

For high-traffic displays, a 30-second interval is appropriate. For boards used by supervisors checking trends, 5 minutes is often sufficient.
